A combination of the formalism of the practical design aesthetics of product packaging to contrast with the spontaneity of random expressionism. To wit, I stencil container developments over layers of stains and drawings on canvas. In the Pentimento series I re-use old paintings and prints; sometimes mine, sometimes others, or commercial canvas prints, even wallpaper. In the process, I may well become a true penitent.
